Pharmaceutical

LiftRite designs pharmaceutical material handling solutions around the load, the operator and the process. From lifting ingredient bags and drums to positioning containers at a workstation, the aim is controlled movement with less manual lifting and a grip suited to the item being handled.

Our approach starts with your handling sequence: where the load is picked up, where it needs to go, and what cleaning, access and operating requirements apply. The two LiftRite installations below show how a jib crane and a purpose-selected mechanical gripper can be combined for different pharmaceutical handling tasks.

Stainless-steel jib crane for drum handling

The handling task: lifting and positioning a drum within the working area of a jib crane.

The project-specific solution: a stainless-steel jib crane paired with a mechanical drum gripping attachment. The crane supports the load while the operator guides its movement.

What matters for your application: drum diameter, construction and gripping features; loaded weight; pickup and placement heights; and the reach needed to clear surrounding equipment. Stainless-steel construction must be specified to suit the cleaning regime and operating area.

Portable jib crane for bags and sacks

The handling task: supporting bags and sacks during lifting and transfer, where packaging and presentation affect the choice of grip.

The project-specific solution: a portable jib crane with a mechanical gripping attachment for bags and sacks, as demonstrated in this LiftRite installation.

What matters for your application: bag material, seams, fill level, dimensions and weight; the starting and finishing position; available floor space; and the stability and reach of the crane base. A sample load helps establish the appropriate gripping arrangement.

Match the handling solution to the task

  • Drums and containers: consider a mechanical gripper and jib crane for local lifting and positioning, or drum trucks and depalletisers for floor-level transport and pallet transfer. Any requirement to rotate or dispense needs to be specified separately.
  • Ingredient bags and sacks: compare mechanical gripping with vacuum tube lifters for bags and sacks. Packaging porosity, strength, shape and the handling sequence determine which method is suitable.
  • Boxes and packaged materials: vacuum tube lifters for boxes and parcels can support repetitive transfer tasks where the surface and load are compatible with the lifting head.
  • Restricted access or unusual loads: bespoke handling solutions allow the attachment and supporting equipment to be developed around your workstation.

What we check before recommending equipment

  • The load: minimum and maximum weight, dimensions, centre of gravity, packaging and approved contact points.
  • The movement: lifting frequency, reach, height, orientation and the full pickup-to-placement sequence.
  • The environment: room classification, cleaning agents and methods, material finishes, available utilities and any hazardous-area requirements.
  • The installation: floor space, base or fixing requirements, obstructions, operator access and maintenance access.
  • Your process: operating procedures, training and the documentation needed for your internal review.

Cleanroom suitability, washdown compatibility and any ATEX requirements are assessed for the specific equipment configuration and application.

Discuss your pharmaceutical handling project

Send us a photo or short video of the task, the load weight and dimensions, and the pickup and placement heights. Tell us about your cleaning requirements and any space restrictions. LiftRite can then discuss a suitable handling approach with your team.
