Hospitals

Hospital support teams move supplies, linen, containers and equipment every day. The right handling solution needs to suit the load and the route, from a confined store or laundry workstation to a corridor, doorway or service lift.

LiftRite supplies mobile lifting trolleys, tilting equipment and powered towing solutions for these tasks. The following LiftRite installation videos show three different approaches to lifting, presenting and transporting loads.

Project-specific hospital handling solutions

Lift & Drive for hospitals

The task: supporting a load while it is raised or lowered to a useful working or transfer height.

The solution: a mobile Lift & Drive lifting trolley, configured with a platform or attachment to suit the item being handled. This approach can support equipment and supplies handling where repeated lifting between levels is required.

What we check: load weight and footprint, support points, pickup and placement heights, access beneath the workstation, and the cleaning requirements of the department.

Tilting truck for load presentation

The task: bringing the contents of a compatible container into a more accessible position for loading or unloading.

The solution: tilting equipment changes the presentation of the load. This is an option to assess for hospital laundry and stores workstations where staff otherwise reach down into containers.

What we check: container dimensions, weight, retention method, centre of gravity, required tilt and clearance throughout the movement. The container and contents must suit the proposed handling method.

Electric towing for laundry bins

LiftRite electric tow tug for wheeled laundry bins

The task: moving loaded laundry bins along a transport route.

The solution: an electric tow tug provides powered assistance through a suitable hitch connection to the wheeled load. It is an approach to consider for repeated linen and laundry movements between collection, processing and delivery points.

What we check: total moving weight, castor condition, hitch compatibility, stopping and turning space, thresholds, gradients and service-lift access.

Choose equipment around the hospital workflow

  • Laundry and linen: assess container presentation at the workstation separately from powered transport along the route.
  • Stores and supplies: match lifting height and load support to shelves, benches and transfer points. Hand trucks and trolleys can support shorter transport tasks.
  • Goods-in and maintenance: pallet trucks and scissor lift tables offer options for compatible palletised and workstation loads.
  • Unusual loads or restricted access: a bespoke handling solution can be assessed around the item, department and available space.

Planning a hospital handling project

Equipment selection starts with the actual task. We consider the load, handling frequency, narrowest access points, floor conditions, parking and charging space, and interaction with staff and other corridor traffic. Materials and finishes should be selected to suit the site's cleaning procedures and the area in which the equipment will operate.

Send us the load weight and dimensions, a photograph of the trolley or container, and a short video or layout showing the route or workstation. LiftRite can then discuss a suitable lifting, tilting or towing arrangement.
